As Ontario grapples with a housing crisis, cities are compelled to consider novel solutions. In cooperation with the Region of Waterloo, NOW Housing designed and built a project that utilizes multiple small private sleep cabins for residents in Wilmot. It is important to recognize people are at different stages and different housing solutions need to be considered to help people get back on their feet to further contribute to the growth of their community. These cabins do not require a building permit and have proven to be a very quick solution for those in need. Peterborough and London are utilizing these cabins to address their requirements. In addition to cabins, NOW Housing builds community structures that include washrooms, community halls, facility operators and food preparation areas, based on unique needs.
